Rapid tournaments around Kraków 9

Rapid is Kraków’s everyday tournament game. The Wednesday series of Krakowski Klub Szachistów 1893, Szachowa Środa, is played in the club room on ul. Prądnicka under a running edition number, and the club’s Saturday series for its own members mixes rapid and blitz. On Tuesday evenings Cafe Szafe on ul. Felicjanek holds the cycle Szachy na lekkim rauszu, a six-round tournament with an entry fee. The Tuesday cycle of TKKF Drogowiec at the senior club on ul. Sienkiewicza is named for blitz, but at about ten minutes per player it is a rapid game.

The international tournament Nauka i Szachy fills the main AGH building each November with an open group and groups for young children, and the Małopolska junior championships in rapid and blitz are played in October. Wieliczka holds its open district championship at the HERZ conference hall, and the Dwie Wieże junior Grand Prix keeps a monthly rapid ranking.
